The multitasking computers of the BASIC-Tiger™ family each have a number of I/O channels in the module. If that is not enough, the I/O structure can be expanded almost at will. A series of I/O expansion modules with digital and analog channels is available for this purpose.
I/O expansion modules are connected via an 8-bit bus and assigned an individual address. In this way, up to 4096 channels can be integrated into a system. On the software side, addressing external I/O channels is just as simple as in the case of internal I/O channels. The xPort system and adapted device drivers are available for this purpose.
The xPort expansion structure also is fully compatible to the I/O expansions of board level products, which are single board computers of the SBC series and EuroCard computers (TEC series).
